When I got home I Googled shallot recipes and found this one: Bruschetta with Shallots. Simple name, amazing recipe.
So, my friends, I'm going to give a tutorial on how to make this delicious snack, appetizer, or hors d'oeuvres for parties!
First this is what you need: French bread (the recipe says Italian, but this was $0.68 and works fine), shallots, tomatoes, garlic, lemon juice, salt & pepper, and olive oil.
Next, chop your tomatoes, then your shallots and some garlic.
Oh yeah. You also need basil. Luckily, I had the fresh stuff from my garden!
Mix all those things together with your s&p, some olive oil, and lemon juice.
Put your mixture in the fridge to chill and go watch some HGTV.
Next, chop some MORE garlic for infusing your olive oil that's going to be used for brushing your bread. Hey, I never said your breath was going to smell minty fresh when this was all over with.
While that garlic is simmering in the oil, cut some bread and broil them. Watch carefully so they don't burn!!
Don't those bad boys look great? They look so good in fact, that a few minutes after serving them, this is what happens.
Bon appetit!
Watch out Food Network! I'm so jealous of your Farmer's Market experience! I tried to find Fargo's on Saturday and after driving around for 20 minutes, gave up. I love the variety and freshness they offer. My favorite item: fresh green beans. We always cook ours on the grill. I could probably eat it everyday! Thumbs up to you for trying something new!
ReplyDeleteYou should have a blog on the food network website or something (and get paid for it!). That looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! You can tell I watch Food Network too much and read too many healthy lifestyle blogs where food photography is the norm!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your food prep pictures best!
